Building AI tools with AI to advocate for human agency: clearer decisions, less waste, and technology that serves people instead of replacing their judgment.
DigitalQuill Labs builds AI tools with AI to advocate for human agency. That means the human stays in charge, the work stays tied to real value, and the tool is judged by whether it helps people think, decide, and finish.
DigitalQuill Labs exists for builders who want AI to create value, not just output. Agentic AI makes it easy to spend more tokens, generate more artifacts, and stay busy. That’s powerful — but it isn’t the same thing as progress.
Our work is to give AI-assisted projects a memory, a plan, and a value check: what are we building, why does it matter, what changed, what still needs a human decision, and what is this compute actually buying?
We are local-first by default. Your project files stay yours. The workflow keeps decisions, risks, tests, and progress visible, so a new AI session can pick up the work without guessing or wasting another round rediscovering what already happened.
The industry is racing to spend more compute. Even as the price per token keeps falling, the total cost of agentic work is rising, because agents read and write far more than a single chat ever did. Gartner expects some agent tasks to consume far more tokens than ordinary prompts, and Goldman Sachs Research describes agentic AI driving a large increase in token consumption by 2030 — cheaper inference doesn’t automatically mean cheaper workflows.
So the real question stops being “how much can we generate?” and becomes “is any of it worth it?” Too many workflows optimize for output volume before outcome quality. Some companies have already started revisiting AI-tool budgets and access as costs climb (Microsoft, for instance, ended internal Claude Code access in May 2026). That’s the gap we build for: value discipline.
Our tools use AI to judge value and prioritize the work that matters — clear goals, durable context, fewer wasted loops, and shipped work. If an AI can decide which story brings the most value, then human-aligned, value-based spending isn’t a dream. It’s a choice.
The client is in charge. An AI agent is a capable tool that follows logic — not a being. We design for the person, not the hype.
Outcomes beat output. We help you spend attention and compute on what actually moves your project forward.
Local-first by default. Your project files live on your machine and never have to leave it. Sharing is opt-in, never assumed.
Durable context means a fresh AI session picks up where you left off — no rediscovering, no wasted loops.
No tool builds your idea for you while you sleep. We make AI dramatically better at building with you — and we say so plainly.
There’s a human-centered measure we love, the Popsicle Index (coined by Catherine Austin Fitts): can a child safely walk to a store, buy a popsicle, and come home alone? It measures a community by how it actually feels to live in — not by raw output like GDP.
We think AI needs its own version of that question. Not “how many tokens did we burn?” but “did the human end up better off — with their idea built, their time respected, and their compute well spent?” That’s the only score we care about.
Our Declaration of Independence — for the humans who would rather build than be optimized.
Read the DeclarationWe build local-first AI workflow tools for people who want their ideas finished — not scattered across forgotten chats. The next wave of AI work needs value discipline: clearer decisions, durable context, fewer wasted loops, and shipped work.
